Sample APIs you can call

A Star Wars API and a Petstore API for testing clients, code generators, API tools and tutorials. Every API comes with its spec in OpenAPI 3.0 and 3.1 (JSON and YAML), Swagger 2.0, a Postman collection and an .http file.

Star Wars API

The SWAPI data: 82 people, 60 planets, 6 films, 37 species, 39 vehicles and 36 starships. Same paths and answers as swapi.dev, so you can change only the host.

Base URL https://swapi.xample.in/api

Try it in the docsOpen /api/Open in Asra API client

curl https://swapi.xample.in/api/people/1/
curl "https://swapi.xample.in/api/starships/?search=star"

Nothing is saved, unless you ask for a sandbox

Writes (POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE) are checked and answered as if they were saved, but the next request sees the sample data again. To keep your changes, add X-Sandbox: any-name (or ?sandbox=any-name) to your requests. A sandbox lives in memory only: it goes away after one hour without use, or when the service restarts.

curl -X DELETE -H 'X-Sandbox: demo' https://swapi.xample.in/petstore/pet/1
curl -H 'X-Sandbox: demo' https://swapi.xample.in/petstore/pet/1 # 404 in your sandbox
curl https://swapi.xample.in/petstore/pet/1 # still there for everyone else
curl https://swapi.xample.in/sandbox/demo # what your sandbox has changed
curl -X DELETE https://swapi.xample.in/sandbox/demo # start again

Need a sandbox that stays?

A private mock of your API from your own OpenAPI spec, test data that lasts, a sandbox for your customers or your team, or webhooks and email to test against: Bitgeek builds and runs these.
